You are on the right track with cutting out sugar and cream etc...don't give up. What works for me is a Nutribar Meal Replacement bar for breakfast that I have at work, they have a bunch of different flavors, they fill you up for a while and they are only 260 calories each. I usually have an apple as a snack and then a healthy sensible lunch. Maybe if you try the meal replacement bars and healthy snacks it might work for you too...Good luck, and keep up the good work,

I err on the side of formality due to my upbringing. My mother's friends? Still Mrs. So and So until THEY correct me. You will note the ones that have corrected me and the ones that haven't. I am only with calling them Mr. or Mrs. until such time as they scream, "Ugh will you stop with that Mrs.So and So *explitive* , call me Mary." Which has happened on occasion.

As for your problem/environment, I think erring on the side of formality never hurt anyone and if someone calls you Mr. and you don't like it CORRECT them. Or they're just going to keep calling you that.

Deb -- I definitely hear your point. The "music tax" is a really, really shitty deal for independent artists, but great for the labels (guaranteed income not tied to actual sales? who wouldn't want to take that deal?). I'm not for it, either, but it's interesting to me to watch how the industry responds to the pressure caused by new technology.

Thanks for sharing, will check out your blog!

That article has some interesting points, but after further thinking about it, I don't think I'm for it at all. For a start artists lose the rights to their own music, not only that, but how would they regulate it ?? The labels will then be in more of a position to bullsh*t the artists further there

But, I wouldnt like to see it cheapened to be honest. Someones hard work for less than a cent ??? I mean you get somebody who downloads say 10,000 for $5 ....makes you wanna not record man - it'd bankrupt most musicians!

So, yep, I'm against it sorry. I manage a rock band in New Zealand, who have the hits to make it big - it's a matter of getting them there, breaking through a music industry in chaos and reaching the people. I'm basically diarising my journey - the good, the bad and the ugly! If you want to check it out you can at: http://timetorockyou.blogspot.com

Thanks for sharing anyways, it was an interesting concept until I really thought about the effects.

Interesting anecdote: my dad and I were at Taste of Syracuse a few years back and some teenager said to me, "Excuse me ma'am but do you have the time?" I checked my watch and told him, my father snickering away. He says to me, "Heh, you just got ma'am'd. Oh....wait. You're my 26-year-old kid. You just got ma'am'd. God I feel old now."

In my profession, I get called all sorts of stuff - Ms., Mrs., Nurse, etc. I usually introduce myself at first as Dr. to patients but over time they end up calling me by my first name anyway. Eh. Doesn't really bother me.

It's all in how you frame it -- they're just trying to be polite. Say "Please, I prefer if you call me {myfirstname}." You could follow it up with "I can call you Mr. Lastname or Sir, whichever you prefer."
